Last night I woke up in the wee hours with the nagging thought:

Did I overwrite the drop ship address on the IDG order?

I really need to find new things to wake me up.

Besides the obvious serious stuff, there always remain these nagging questions about those crazy castaways:

If they were really on a 3-hour tour, why did Ginger have so many clothes?

Was it all a plot by Mr. Howe's financial enemies?

And finally, if the professor can build a radio out of two coconuts, why can't he build a ship to get off the island?

Ponderables, indeed.

There are questions out there that need to be answered.

The Oscar goes to...

It's been a while, hasn't it?
Well let's see...I had to watch the Oscars last night. I don't give a rip who won what because I think a lot of good movies don't get nominated for political reasons, and vice versa. I do want to see a few of them, thought- the two Leo is in, and the Queen.

I watch it mainly to see the gowns. Helen Mirren had the prettiest. Beautiful! Also Maggie Gillenhaal and Jada Pinkett Smith (who always looks perfect). I hope Jennifer Hudson drove by and threw a rock through Simon's window with a note saying, "nyah nyah look at me NOW!" Well the gowns and tuxes were stunning. A lot of people don't pay attention and I don't go out of my own way to get beautiful gowns (where would I wear them? I'm no society person.) for myself. I look at them for the same reason I watch Miss America and collect Barbies from around the world. Shimmering, flowing gowns are beautiful to look at. Penelope Cruz looked incredible. The best gown I've ever seen, though, is last year's Versace on Jessica Alba. Steve watched part of it. Neither of us watched all of it. Nicole Kidman always looks perfect but this time that big red bow on her shoulder looked, according to Steve, "like a parrot perched there".
Nutty as Donatella Versace is (wasn't she the model for The Incredibles' wardrobe lady?), she is a genius designer, as are Vera Wang, Anna Sui, etc. etc. etc. Ah well, I shop at Wal-mart for my own stuff!

Oh yeah, Nathanael is a national merit finalist now- not just semifinalist.

He almost forgot to tell us. He said, "Oh yeah, Mom, I almost forgot. I did get to finalist status. I learned it in school." Nominative distinctions don't mean so much to him but they do to me. :)

Bracing for Round 2 with Old Man Winter...

Kids are excited seeing as we really didn't have winter last year or even Dec./Jan. of this 06/07.

Also we went through Round ?? of the bullies/school problem AGAIN. Remember the potheads seeking retaliation? Well Micah was on Hempstead (where we used to live and where some of those bullies now live) going to his friend's house, one whose brother is one of the bullies. Bullies attacked Micah and we went to the police, had them arrested and thrown out of school (well, the ones who weren't already thrown out of school) and after all that, Micah's friend stayed over most of the weekend. When I arrived at home Friday there were 9 kids at my house, only 2 to whom I gave birth. 1 was said friend and brother of bully. 6 were kids sledding on our hill. :)

Needless to say that kid is kind of funny and loopy and he and Micah played Runescape most of Saturday. Sunday Micah went skiing with the church and loved every minute of it- he's a good skier now!

We have about a quarter inch of snow on the ground currently, the beginning of what is to be about 5 to 8 by tomorrow. Schools are letting out, businesses are closing, and people in Cincinnati are building bunkers, declaring a moratorium on life as we know it, and awaiting the end of all things. :)

The bad news: nightmare with school beginning again.
The good news: Micah on the right side of the law.

The incident: Micah tells authorities kid has pot. Somehow kids find out it was Micah. Micah is threatened, pushed, intimidated, jeered, and threatened more. He is afraid and I am afraid for him. We need to get him out NOW and Steve is going up again (already once today) to the school to try to get out the other kids who are threatening Micah. I say at this point let's just go. May get an apt. until ready to move. Best solution, though I WAS going to save that for semester I tuition for Nathanael. Maybe an apt. would be a good solution as well for getting this house ready to sell- get the stuff out. We have a house we like in Wyoming. I have to work with stubborn Steve. But here is where I draw the line and agree with him or not, if I think my child is in danger I don't care about proving a point, it's just plain time to go. Fairfield or Wyoming. If Fairfield I may be able to start Micah right away by staying with Dave until I get a place.

This weather sux! I don't like this type of cold, gray weather. Not even cold, sunny weather. I am so sick of my hands and feet being cold because the men in my house LIKE it cold there. Up to Panera to warm my hands by the fire. :)
