Things seem good here at work, and this weekend we are going to Chuck and Ellen's 50th anniversary. Micah and Steve are refinishing Steve's historic car. Micah will be starting at Scarlet Oaks in a few days, majoring in auto repair. Nathanael is going back to Grinnell (cry cry, off he goes again) to live in the ecohouse. He's majoring in anthro, minoring in linguistics.

Ann, thanks so much for coming to our Anniversary party and bringing Steve and Micah.

I didn't get to read the anniversary book your mom made until yesterday. I really enjoyed what you wrote.

If you want to send me a replacement picture, that's fine, but I'm happy with the one that's there. You are still a beautiful lady.

Ellen, please replace it! There are probably hundreds of pictures from your camera that you took- any one would be better than that one. I guess I'm pretty sensitive about it because it feels like putting it there was almost a prank or something that was trying to be funny. Please don't keep that one because I hate to have people remember me looking like that. I can send another or email one. PLEASE rip that one up and throw it in the trash! Please!

Ann, I'm sorry you reacted so negatively to that print. Believe me, it was not meant as a prank. I just took the pictures we had leftover from the wedding, because those were the only ones I had on hand. Alice didn't like hers, either, and mine was pretty lame. But Ellen is right. Yours is fine from my point of view. Anyway, we'll find one you approve of, and I'll take it with me when I go up there in three weeks on the way to Egypt. Then I will personally destroy the one you don't like, if it's OK with Ellen and Chuck. After all, the book belongs to them now. Mom

Ann, it's no problem. I will replace the picture. I promise. I'm far more impressed with the words you wrote. They mean a lot to me. And so do you. I want you to be happy. Then we'll both be happy!

Love, Aunt E.

Thank you! It was an awesome anniversary party and I liked meeting all these people I didn't even know before, like Toy and Annie, and seeing everyone.

I guess it's no secret that I just don't photograph well! I have to be standing just exactly right (preferably in the way back), smiling exactly right, hair exactly right, etc. Preferably I'm skinny but of course right now I'm not. Oh, well. Mom, you should have taken the ones from my blog because I have a good one of Alice! And everyone else, too. I hate having my yucky picture spoiling that book, because it reminds me that ack, do I really look like that? LOL Anyway I'm not as upset about it now as I was before but every time I look in the mirror it reminds me how much I've let myself go. Even fat I can take a decent picture (turns out better in extremely dim lighting, LOL) as long as I stand or sit waaaaaaay back.

You still look fine to me, but I applaud your efforts to make yourself look better. Middle age does its bit to us all, that's for sure. We'll see that a better picture is put in. Mom

By the way, all the Herrings were raving about the bracelets you gave around. The boys wanted some, too. Toy was so impressed at how beautiful they are, and was so glad you had them to give out. I like mine too, that you gave me before. I know a lot of work goes into them. Thanks for being such a sweet daughter. Mom

We did enjoy meeting you and your family. I'm sorry I never got to finish chatting with Micah. He was going to demonstrate some technology to Tom and myself and the time just got away.

The bracelets were also great. I have been wearing mine alot. The colors go with most of my wardrobe. I wonder if that means I need to branch out a little more with the colors? ;-)

I understand your frustration with pictures right now Ann. When I see some of the photos of me from this summer I just say, Hey look, that's a nice BEFORE picture. Got to have those for the great AFTER pictures that are coming.

Hi Ann, I just want you to know I have replaced the picture that you found objectionable. The old one went into the trash, so no one will ever see it again. I like the new one better and hope you do too.

Gee, Mom, touchy! But I'll tell you what'll make you look better: Quit smoking. Oh, and exercise. I'm just going to keep hounding you about that. Have you been riding Dad's bike at all?
