At about 3:30 I was channel-surfing when Nathanael comes home from playing croquet-something he and his friends hae done now several times at various parks. The last couple of times they have played at Warder. Today he and 4 friends were to play at 1:00.
He returns at home at 3:30 and then I see he has a friend with him. I turn to see just one of the prettiest girls I have ever seen. Turns out she was the ONLY show. I don't think Nathanael minded that at all.
She is Xing-lai Wang, and no she isn't from China but Germany. Her parents emmigrated from China to Germany. She's fluent in both languages. She's sweet and polite and wow, so beautiful! One of this year's exchange students. She's been playing croquet with that group for a while, I guess several times. Her English is improving- and she's young enough she'll learn it almost flawlessly, I'm sure. Anyway, after she visited and then her host family picked her up, Steve was kind of giving him the wink wink nudge nudge thing.... and of course we said, "I'm sure she was soooo impressed with the state of your room..." Then Karl came over and made silly comments, wink wink, etc. Nathanael is a gentleman without thinking about it. He IS a wonderful kid, but he also would not know how to be UNgentlemanly...you know, as in, smooth-talking, making-passes, getting fresh, etc. type of ungentleman...he's always been, uh, kind of clueless in that area and content to remain so...he's a very "I hate dances and dating and all that" teenage boy...and I'll be fine with him being a gentleman because in the future it will be NOT out of respect plus cluelessness but just out of respect. :) Anyway, she is adorable. And he is blushes and big smiles and wow, when you're that age every little thing is fireworks.
