I went w/ Micah to pick up Nathanael at his friend's house near Dayton. First thing Nathanael said to Micah, "Wow, so are you goth/emo/skater?" Micah got offended. He is touchy around Nathanael. They get along but when Nathanael is home Micah takes a lot of time to sharpen the distinction between them. Whatever "statement" Nathanael makes, Micah makes another.

Nathanael's current fashion statement is plaid and no shoes. Micah got a cool jacket and skinny pants at Hot Topic. And a skater hat and gloves. The skater hat looks like it could have been crocheted by a loving old granny. But it's THE style. He went to school with that look and got complimented. He's not emo or goth, but definitely kind of skater. He's kind of, hm, combined a few different looks: Roca wear or Paco (rap), skater shoes and hat and gloves, emo this or goth that. Well he thinks he's da shiznit....LOL....and I guess maybe he is. :) Uh, the look may work when your 14 but Steve and I have said to him, "It's OK for now, but if you dress like this at age 25 you have some issues." So anyway he skates around a lot and listens to a lot of post-grunge, nu-metal, indie this or that... call it what you want but it will be "classic" in 20 more years.

Tomorrow is T-day at Oxford. Steve is in W.Va. but is coming home soon. He got a deer! He was pretty happy about that. Missed going to W.Va. this year but the logistics didn't work out. I will miss all those people. I guess I will see them at the summer reunion when again I will bid on the mystery gift. :) Every year there is a cute auction to raise money for the next year's gathering. Old family photos, tchatchkes, ornaments, and all kinds of cool old things. Way fun. But they don't do the auction at Thanksgiving. At T-day it's EAT EAT EAT at noon, some people go hunt, then everyone comes back to EAT EAT EAT again. OH MAN it's good eats there. I will miss it. But I will like t-day in O-town with my kids and my brother's kids. Dad will do his oyster dressings.

btw my dad is doing pretty well. Mom broke her ankle so now he is taking care of HER again. They seem to be taking turns at it lately. Dad's back more to his old self and personality now that his health is better. We all know something happened to his personality some years back (and it was a sudden shift, so a mini-stroke possibly but we will never know) and it was like he was a different person completely. But a lot of his old personality is coming back since his operation and his much improved diet. Good for him!
